Kyoto, Japan

An unedited itinerary from Geospace.

Kyoto, Japan
Itinerary

Five days in Kyoto covers the eastern temple streets, the northern Zen temples, Arashiyama’s bamboo and garden area, and the Fushimi Inari hillside. The plan balances major sights with food stops in central Kyoto, using nearby clusters so each day stays focused and travel stays manageable.

Day by day

Day 1 — Higashiyama Classics

Morning: Kiyomizu-dera: go early for the wooden stage, wide city views, and traditional architecture. Then walk the historic lanes near Ninenzaka for wooden facades and souvenir browsing. 10 min walk.

Afternoon: Sannenzaka: follow the hill street for local snacks, tea, and crafts, then continue to Shirakawa Canal for a quieter stroll and photos by the water. Short taxi or transit between areas.

Evening: Hikiniku to Come (Kyoto): order the juicy hamburger patties with unlimited rice and customize them with condiments. Go early if you want to avoid a wait.
